THINKTANK is an award-winning licensed architecture and land planning firm located in downtown Bozeman, Montana. We offer innovative residential, commercial, and mixed-use design solutions. We are dedicated to responsible community planning and specialize in sustainable Mass Timber / Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) projects.

Our development efforts are focused on renovating downtown buildings in complete disarray and turning them into vibrant community hubs. The Lark Hotel and Rialto Theater in downtown Bozeman are examples of this. The foundation of these projects includes a modern reinterpretation of historical uses, engagement of locally sourced artisans, and consideration of environmental factors.

We realized our vision of bringing Mass Timber / CLT to downtown Bozeman with the expansion of The Lark Hotel. The new four-story mixed-use structure is one of the first buildings in Montana to employ this incredibly strong, quick to set up, and environmentally friendly construction material. Following the success of this project, our efforts are focused on opening the door to more sustainable building material use in the State of Montana.  We have engaged state officials and led a campaign to have mass timber / CLT added to the approved building codes.
